How to get inspired?

Inspiration is peculiar thing. When you need it the most, it's nowhere to be found and sometimes you'll get so inspired and won't even have the time to accomplish everything you imagined. It doesn't matter weather you are writing, painting, finishing an essay for school, or coming up with an idea for a new blog post. If you don't feel like doing it, you probably won't get the results you are happy with. This week, instead of usual Art inspiration post, I decided to dedicate the whole post to inspiration and my tips on how to get inspired when you feel like you will never be able to come up with a good idea. I know it sounds cheesy, and believe me I'm first who think it is when I hear it, but truthfully inspiration is all around us. You just need to open yourself up and embrace it.

1) Change of the setting Most of us will fall into this trap when we have a deadline. We'll lock ourselves up in our four walls and stay there until we get the job done. For years I did this until I finally realised it's completely counterproductive. I know the last thing you will want to do, when you have to get something done, is to go out and have fun. But, believe me, it's the only way to get back on the track. Take a walk, go shopping, met your friends. After you stop thinking about the task you'll immediately come up with the idea how to solve it.

2) ''Ignore the task'' This one goes hand in hand with my first tip. I don't mean you should literally ignore it, just allow your brain to think about something else. Relaxed brain is your ally, stressed one is not.

3) Go through your old work Although some people like to go through someone else's work to get inspired, I don't recommend doing that. You'll probably end up with copying their work instead of doing your own. Even if you are like me and you are not the person who copies from someone else, you might do it unintentionally. Don't underestimate the power of your subconsciousness. On the other hand, looking at your old work will remind you of great things you are capable of and inspire you to create new ones.

4) Good movie or a favourite song will always help If you feel hopeless and like you can't achieve anything, you need to feel good again in order to make any progress. My tip is always to relax, listen to your favourite song or watch a movie that will cheer you up.

5) Favourite food or drink will help as well When I am about to do anything creative I usually make myself a cup of coffee with a bit of cinnamon. You should also do that with your favourite food or drink. After a while your brain will remember that it's time to work every time you drink or eat that particular thing.

6) Have a backup Like I said in the beginning of this posts, sometimes we have all these ideas we simply forget about later. Write those down of make small sketches. I always draw sketches in my planner or write down all ideas I have.

7) Power through When all of the above fails and you absolutely have to get a job done, just give it your best effort and finish it. We are not perfect and some of your work won't be as good as you want it to be. That's fine, no one's work is perfect all the time.

I hope you find these tips helpful. How do you get inspired?
