Every year millions of people are following the hype about celebrities who appeared on the red carpet of the Met Gala, commenting who wore what and lately even creating memes or their outfits and looks. Sadly,  a very few of them actually check the exhibition that's the point of the whole grand opening, or even know that the exhibition exits. In my opinion the exhibition itself is the hart and soul of Met Gala. Celebrities may show up on the red carpet in the outfits stylists pick for them, but most of them don't know how to truly appreciate the meaning of the fashion history that the exhibition is interpreting every year.

Annual Costume Institute gala, known as Met Gala is the opening of the exhibition in the Costume Institute, which is a part of Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. The point of the gala is to raise money for the Institute, so that may justify the presence of celebrities who are invited, becaue they make this event more popular which will, in the end, bring more money to the museum.

Exhibition is opened for four months and every year it has a new theme. This year's theme is China: Through the looking glass and it features the most exquisite pieces of Chinese clothing and art through the centuries as well as the designer pieces inspired by Chinese clothing and culture. In the photos you can see some of my favourite pieces from this year's exhibition. I find Chinese clothing incredible and very inspiring so I liked the theme a lot. All the photos are from metmuseum.org and vogue.com webites and there you can find a lot of other photos from the exibition.
