If you never heard of it before, qipao (or cheongsam) is a traditional Chinese dress and it got it's form as we know it today during 1920s. I wanted one since I saw beautiful cheongsams in Vogue couple of years ago. It was in the issue where successful grandmother and equally successful granddaughters all over the globe were interviewed. The grandmother from China wore the most gorgeous cheongsam and granddaughters wore dresses inspired by it. Since then I started searching for the dress all over the place.

I even toyed with the idea to get a top or a jacket, similar to the one Julia Roberts wore in Notting Hill. Yep, we all know I'm sucker for the fashion featured in movies. Anyways, I found this one on Etsy (the Meka for all things vintage and hard to find) and I've been wearing it since. It turns out you can wear it all the time, I know a lot of people opt for cheongsams for formal events. It's classy, it's unique and most importantly, it's very comfortable.
