Life skills: how to really tune out on vacation



I remember when times were much simpler. You would go on a vacation and relax from the first day, not having a single care in the world. These days things are so much different. The moment we arrive we start searching for Wi-fi, connecting to social networks and sharing how much fun we are having. When in fact we are having no fun at all, just worrying about posting and liking stuff. We would rather spend the day looking at strangers vacations through their Instagram profiles than enjoying our own. And that's not even the biggest problem. Today we are used to being available 24/7 and we can't stop working even when we are on holiday. There's always that one e-mail to be answered and that one project you will just glimpse at before going to the beach. Where did those carefree vacation days go, when the only thing you would do is reading and sunbathing? Good thing is you can get them back, following these couple steps.

Stay away from the Internet

Unplugged vacations are becoming more and more popular and with a good reason. In order to truly relax you need to stop checking social media, e-mails, blogs, etc. I know this is hard, I couldn't stay completely away from my favourite apps either, but I tried to limit their use to bare minimum.

Postpone job related tasks

Unless it's the matter of life or death, or you are a blogger and you have to take blog photos on your vacation as well, don't do anything that's job related. We all need a break from time to time!

Do the tings at your own pace

If you are on vacation with your friends or family, it's easy to ignore what you want and do what everyone else is doing. You might not want to go to the beach at 8 AM or for a run at 7 AM, but you'll still do it because you don't want to be a party popper. The thing is, it's your vacation as well. I'm not saying you should ignore everyone and be by yourself all the time, just that you should do the things you want to do, not those that you think you're obligated to do. 

Stop worrying 

Generally we tend to worry more nowadays. There's always a thing that's on your mind, a thing you saw in your Facebook feed or on TV, the thing you wish you did before leaving, but you forgot, all the work that's awaiting when you get back the list goes on. Honestly your life will never be 100% perfect. Give your brain a break and stop worrying so much. Just relax and stay positive.




Sećam se kad je život bio mnogo jednostavniji. Kada smo išli na more i od prvog dana se opuštali, bez i jedne brige na svetu. Ovih dana stvari su znatno drugačije. Čim stignemo počnemo da tražimo Wi-fi, da se konektujemo na društvene mreže i da sa drugima delimo to koliko se ''zabavljamo''. A u stvari nam i nije zabavno, kad je jedino o čemu brinemo postovanje i lajkovanje. Radije ćemo da provedemo svoje vreme gledajući tuđe odmore kroz njihove Instagram profile nego da uživamo u svom. I to čak nije ni najveći problem. Danas smo navikli da budemo dostupni 24/7 i ne možemo da prestanemo da radimo i da se stresiramo čak i na odmoru. Uvek postoj taj jedan mejl na koji moramo da odgovorimo, jedan projekat na koji ćemo samo da bacimo pogled pre nego što krenemo na plažu. Gde su otišli oni bezbrižni dani na moru kada je jedino što smo radili sunčanje i čitanje? Dobra stvar je da možemo da ih vratimo, ako pratimo nekoliko jednostavnih koraka.

Udaljite se od interneta

Odmori bez telefona i kompjutera postaju sve popularniji u svetu, i to sa dobrim razlogom. Da bismo se stvarno opustili moramo da prestanemo da proveravamo mejlove, društvene mreže, blogove... Znam da je ovo teško, ni ja ne mogu potpuno da se klonim svojih omiljenih aplikacija, ali sam se na odmoru trudila da njihovo korišćenje svedem na minimum.

Odložite poslovne obaveze

Ukoliko nije pitanje života i smrti, ili ste bloger pa morate da slikate slike za blog i na odmoru, nemojte da radite ništa što ima veze sa vašim poslom. Svima nam treba odmor sa vremena na vreme!

Radite stvari na svoj način

Ako ste na odmoru sa porodicom ili prijateljima, lako može da vam se desi da ignorišete ono što želite i da radite ono što drugi rade. Možda vam se ne ide na plažu u 8 ujutru ili na trčanje u 7, ali ćete ići da ne biste drugima kvarili zabavu. Ali, stvar je u tome da je to i vaš odmor. Ne kažem da treba sve da ignorišete i budete sami non-stop, samo da treba da uživate u stvarima koje vam se stvarno rade, ne da radite one koje mislite da morate.

Prestanite da brinete

U današnje vreme ljudi generalno više brinu. Uvek postoji jedna stvar koja vas kopka, nešto što ste videli na Fejsbuku ili televiziji, nešto što ste želeli da urradite pre odmora a niste stigli, obaveze koje vas čekaju kada se vratite, lista nema kraja. Iskreno, svi moramo da shvatimo da nam život nikad neće biti 100% savršen. Zato dajte sebi oduška i prestanite da brinete toliko. Samo se opustite i mislite pozitivno.
