I was recently invited to take part in #MyCosmoStyle challenge. If you haven't seen the posts that are part of this challenge before, the point is to show your outfit choices for staying in The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. Hotel itself gives you a lot of options for eating, going out, and relaxing and while doing all of that you naturally need to look fabulous.
Choosing outfits for the trip is one of my favourite things about traveling. However, I always end up with suitcase so heavy that while checking in my luggage I have to cross my fingers and pray to the traveling goods it won't be over the weight limit.
The trick to avoid heart pounding and palms sweating every time you check in your suitcase is to take clothes that can transfer well from one outfit to another. Also, items have to be both day and night appropriate. I can't tell you how many times I took only dresses that can be worn at night and had nothing to wear during the day except one pair of jeans and a white t shirt. Well, you learn from your mistakes and now I pack a lot better.
Other thing I like is to ''dress for destination''. Yes, I am one of those cliche people who wear ballet flats and neck scarf in Paris, navy stripes at seaside and Greek sandals in Greece.
So what would I wear in Vegas? Mix of Americana and boho by day (think Balmain Elvis inspired collection from few years back, just more simple) and glamorous with a hint of boho by night.
Outfit No. 1- Breakfast or lunch at Wicked Spoon Buffet
JEANS: J BRAND, TOP: ALICE+OLIVIA, JACKET: BALMAIN, BRACELET: DINNY HALL, SHOES: DOLCE&GABBANA, CLUTCH: LANVIN.
When in Vegas wear flares! Elvis did it, as did everybody in the 70's. Jeans are another American icon, so make sure to pack one pair. Wear them with boho top and glamorous jacket and platforms (because they look the best with flares) and you are set for glamorous and relaxed morning. Vegas is a bit over the top so if you want your outfit to go in the same direction accessorise with statement jewelery and embellished clutch (you'll need only couple of things, room key, your phone and maybe some lip balm so there's no point in taking a bigger bag).
Outfit No. 2-Relaxing by the pool at Marquee Dayclub
SWIMSUIT: J CREW, JACKET: BALMAIN, SHOES: DOLCE&GABBANA, BAG: RIVER ISLAND, SUNGLASSES: MOTEL, HAT: J CREW.
Platforms are the heaviest of all the shoes so if you are taking one pair make sure to get a lot of use out of them. Even if that means wearing them at the pool. Who cares, you're in Vegas! I think one piece bathing suit is the right choice for the pool, wear jacket over it while you are going to the pool and back to your room. Don't forget over sized bag for all the pool necessities (you can read about mine in my What's in my beach bag? post), a nice hat and pair of sunglasses.
Outfit No. 3-Early dinner at Scarpetta
DRESS: HALSTON HERITAGE, JACKET: BALMAIN, SHOES: DOLCE&GABBANA, BAG: RIVER ISLAND, SUNGLASES: MOTEL, JEWLERY: NEW LOOK.
Tired and hungry from the day in the sun? Just change into comfortable dress and head off to early dinner. No need to switch bags (that can sometimes be a pain while you're on your vacation) just take the same bag you wore at the pool, you're going for the boho chic look anyways so it will fit perfectly with the rest of the outfit. Although the look is relaxed add some jewelery so it won't be too simple.
Outfit No. 4-Partying at Marquee Nightclub
JUMPSUIT: TIBI, JACKET: BALMAIN, PUMPS: DOLCE&GABBANA, CLUTCH: LULU GUINNESS, RING: J CREW, LIPSTICK: TOM FORD.
After the dinner get some rest and get ready for the night out! To balance out the day of relaxed outfits wear something glamorous! Still, stick with the Vegas theme by wearing colours that describe Vegas the best: red and gold. I love jumpsuits for clubbing and this one is simply amazing. Wear the nicest pumps you have, it doesn't matter if they are hurting your feet, you can always take them off (what happens in Vegas...). Your jacket for the day will work for the night outfit as well. Interesting clutch is a must, but keep the jewelery at the minimum so it won't be too overwhelming. Finish off with your favourite lipstick and you are ready for dancing until sunrise!
A big thank you for your blog article.
