Only two hairstyling products you actually need

We live in an era of dry texturising sprays, hair styling oils and vast number of other products designed for hair styling. On average we own at leas five basic hair care products (shampoo, conditioner, hair mask, leave in conditioner, dry shampoo to name the few), two hair styling tools (blow dryer and a brush are mere basics) and not to mention flat irons, curling irons, tangle teezers, teezing combs, etc. This is all if you don't count styling products. Add them and you come to realise your hair care collection is bigger than skin care and body care collection combined. Well, maybe I am exaggerating a bit, but you get the picture. Recently I was thinking about all hair styling products I own and how much I actually use them on regular basis. And I realised I only need two hair styling products to style my hair perfectly:

-Hair spray A crucial part of every neat and long lasting hair style. You basically can't do any kind of decent looking up do without hair spray. Also, casual hairstyles like waves or curls need hairspray to secure all the hairs in place and make them look polished and flawless. My all time favourite is L'Oreal Elnett hairspray, I've never tried a better hairspray in my life. Other good one is Nivea Diamon gloss Styling spray.  I ran out of Elnett and I needed a hairspray to finish my look, so I borrowed this one from my sister and I liked it a lot so I got it for myself. If you are looking for a nice hairspray I recommend these two.

-Hair mousse If you have curly or wavy hair, hair mousse is your best friend. I use it on damp hair, then blow dry the hair and I get the most incredible waves. Bare in mind this only works for wavy of curly hair if your hair is super straight this method won't give you nice looking results. However, hair mousse has other uses and that's why I think you need it in your beauty cupboard. When you are curling your hair with a curling iron, you can apply the mousse on the hair and it will give you curls that last longer and are more defined. Other great thing about hair mousse is you can use it for hair setting that is more delicate than the one you do with hairspray. For example if you have just couple of stray hairs and you spray those with hairspray the will become too stiff and look unnatural. Instead you can use a tiny bit of mousse to gently slick them back and you will get a natural result. You have to be careful when you are buying a hair mousse, thought. If it has a bad formula it will leave your hair sticky, crunchy of worse. In my experience the best hair mousses are those from Nivea. I tried others but I never liked any other than the ones from Nivea. They have some special formula that makes the greatest hair mousse. Right now I'm using their Flexible curls Styling mousse, it really doesn't matter which one to pick, they are all equally good. When I'm buying Nivea hairstyling products I usually get number 4 (extra strong) because I think it works the best for my hair.

I honestly think you can work all the hair magic with these two in your hand. What do you think, can you narrow your hairstyling products to just two products (tools and brushes excluded)?

  1. I actually don't own any hair products....I mean if a hair tie counts and shampoo and basic hygiene. I do sometimes use coconut oil in my hair but I wouldn't consider that a hair product because I mostly use it to remove my makeup

    1. You are lucky, even if I tie my hair I still need to use hairspray to tame it. I love coconut oil, I even put it in my coffee, it's delicious! :)
